Your personal data is important to Standard Chartered Bank (“we” or “us”) and it is our policy to respect and protect your personal data. This Privacy Statement outlines how we collect, use, manage and share the personal data, including special or sensitive data, that we collect through our Websites or the Platform in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
Personal data we collect from you
We may collect a range of personal data from you, which you provide us with when you visit our Websites, register for and/or use the Platform, or when you contact us, including but not limited to:
- your full name
- your email address
- details about your employment
- your location data/geodata
- web cookies (please refer to our Cookie Policy for details of these cookies and their purposes), and
- the url(s) of your social media account(s).
You may also provide personal data to us in any media which you post on our Websites and/or the Platform which, while not actively collected by us, may still be stored and/or processed by us under and in accordance with this Statement.
When visiting or using our Websites and/or the Platform, our website(s) and/or the Platform will display which personal data you have to share with us by requesting those data when you sign up. These mandatory personal data will be used to provide you with the website services and/or the Platform service. If you don’t share this kind of data with us, we will not be able to allow you to use the services on our Websites and/or the Platform. All the other personal data that you provide on our Websites and/or the Platform are used only to improve your experience when using our Websites and/or the Platform.
We may also use digital channels (including, but not limited to, social media accounts) to promote our Websites and/or the Platform and you may provide personal data to us through such digital channels (including, but not limited to, by expressing your views orally or in writing), which, while not actively collected by us, may still be stored and/or processed by us under and in accordance with this Statement.
How we use your personal data
We will only collect, use, and disclose your personal data for the purposes you have been notified of and consented to or which are otherwise permitted under applicable laws and regulations.
We will not sell, rent or give away personal data to third parties for commercial purposes without your consent.
We may process your personal data to enable us to fulfil the contract between us relating to the provision of the Platform (and related functionalities) and/or the provision of services or products that you have requested, for purposes including the following:
- authenticating your credentials and providing you with access to the Platform;
- facilitating yours, and/or your company’s/employer’s participation in the functions offered by and through the Platform, including in open calls, pitches and chats;
- providing customer service, customer support and technical support; and
- our internal analytical or statistical purposes.
Where personal data you have provided to us on or through our digital channels has been integrated into content created on such channels, we may use such content containing your personal data in order to promote the Platform’s activity (e.g. if you take part in a recorded discussion, the recording of this discussion may be shared on the Platform or on our digital channels to promote the Platform).
We may process your personal data for purposes connected to legal or regulatory duties arising from or connected to services you have requested, including complying with and monitoring compliance with applicable laws and regulations directives, judgments or court orders, government sanctions or embargoes, reporting requirements under financial transactions legislation, and demands of any authority, regulator, tribunal, enforcement agency, or exchange body.

We may also process your personal data for marketing purposes including, but not limited to:
- Conducting market research and surveys with the aim of improving our products and services;
- Promoting events, including competitions and lucky draws;
- Providing you with information on our products and services;
- Sending you newsletters, reports and relevant content
We process your personal data for these marketing purposes because it is in the interest of our business to do so with the intention of improving our products and services and generating business. However, we will not use any data you provide us on online forms for marketing purposes unless you register your consent on those forms. You also have the right to opt out of receiving marketing material at any time. Where you have asked us not to send you marketing material or other promotional or research material for which you have subscribed, we may need to retain a record that you have asked us not to do so to ensure that you do not receive anything further.
To whom we may disclose your personal data
Depending on the type of personal data and the purpose of processing that data, we may disclose your personal data to:
- our affiliates anywhere in the world, including any officer, employee, agent or director of any affiliate in order to provide the services on our Websites and/or the Platform service to you or to fulfil our legal or regulatory obligations;
- our professional advisers and service providers in order to provide administrative, financial, legal, accounting, information technology, research or other services;
- anyone authorised by you, as specified by you or in any contract with you;
- any person to whom disclosure is required or permitted under applicable laws and regulations;

We will not use take any automated decisions toward you based on your personal data.
Your personal data will be hosted in a data centre in Singapore. This means, that depending on your citizenship or the place where you live your personal data may be treated as transferred to, or stored at, a location outside of your country of residence.
Security
The security of your personal data is important to us. We have technical and organisational security measures in place to safeguard your personal data. When using external service providers, we require that they adhere to security standards mandated by us. We may do this through contractual provisions and oversight of the service provider. Regardless of where personal data is transferred, we take all steps reasonably necessary to ensure that personal data is kept securely.
However, you will appreciate that it is not for us to perfectly secure your personal data from cyberattacks, such as hacking, spyware and viruses. Accordingly, you will not hold us liable for any unauthorised disclosure, loss or destruction of your personal data arising from such risks.
Retention
We retain your personal data in line with our legal and regulatory obligations and for business and operational purposes. In the majority of cases this will be for five years from the end of your relationship with us (or if your account has been inactive for a period of greater than six months, for five years from the date on which you last used your account).
Your rights
Subject to applicable law, regulations and/or banking industry guidelines, you may have the following rights:

To request a copy of the personal data processed in relation to you. We may be allowed by law to charge a fee for this. - Correction
To request that we correct your personal data. - Erasure
To ask us to delete your personal data, for example if we no longer have a valid reason to process it. - Object
To object to how we process your personal data. This does not mean you can decide or choose how we process your personal data other than in relation to marketing. - Restriction
To restrict how your personal data is processed in certain cases, such as when the accuracy of your Personal Data is contested.
