S: Diligent, resilient, perseverant
What do you do at SC Ventures, and how are you rewiring the 🧬 DNA in banking?
S: I work on the Investment Fund team at SC Ventures, making strategic (minority) investments in partnering companies. We’re also focused on accelerating the growth of our incubated ventures by raising funds externally for them; coordinating joint ventures, strategic partnerships or M&A opportunities with potential partners; as well as providing them with strategic business and commercial guidance through the process.
What about SC Ventures gets you out of bed in the morning? 💪
S: Finding companies with innovative and disruptive ideas that the Bank can work with (if they aren’t already) and assessing the opportunity for us to invest! I always get excited when I see a company with new technology, a unique business model or a talented entrepreneur or team, and I’m highly motivated to help these companies grow further by providing them funding and introducing them to new business units in the Bank and/or ventures we’ve incubated, for potential collaboration.
Tell us something about you that’s not on your LinkedIn profile.
S: I’m a big sci-fi fan – and have been since I was a teenager. My favourite sci-fi is the ‘Remembrance of Earth’s Past’ trilogy. I read the original Chinese version in 2008 and was glad to see the English version win the prestigious Hugo Awards in 2015 (finally!)
